Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American performer, actress and songwriter for several years. Her mom raised her in the USA and she was subject to numerous racial slurs that left her feeling like someone who was not wanted. When she went to a school competition and received high praise for her singing at the age of 9 she began to grow more confident. The experience not only helped her gain confidence but changed her goals in life. At the age of 22, she was able to graduate from in the Julliard School of New York. When she turned 23, she started her professional career on Broadway in the Paul Simon musical The Capeman. Then, when she was 23 she made her film debut in You've got mail. The role in The Lady of The Lake is her most memorable breakthrough, bringing her the Tony Award in addition to the acclaim of critics for her performance. In the year following, she was cast in the ABC series Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider acceptance for the role. She is known as a performer and also released a single and an extended version of her play. Also, she's an activist and works hard to protect LGBT rights.
